When Ugly is Beautiful!

Dell XPS M1210

Dell XPS M1210

I have been a user of Dell Notebooks for over 8 years. I bought them all, from the cheap Inspiron to the expensive Precision. Dell notebooks somehow remind me of the Volvo Box. Ugly but reliable. I hardly had any trouble with any of the old Dell notebooks. I hardly needed to format them, which is unheard in the Windows World. But recently Dell started a new generation of better looking notebooks. It is not the Mac yet, and it won’t be. But they are better looking than the previous generations of Dell notebooks. So I jumped in, and bought two of the new XPS, M1210 and M1310. They are certainly slick and pleasant to carry. Until we started using them. Oh boy, behind that look there is an inferior reliability. Consider this, I had M50, M60, M65, M70, M90 and never had a problem with them. Now I have been using an XPSM1210 for the last 6 months, and I had to change the motherboard twice, screen once, formatted my HD 3 times, and now the battery is NOT WORKING AT all. And did I tell you that if you upgrade your graphic adapter drivers, you will not be able to use an external projector. So don’t.

Mr. Dell, bring back the old and ugly design. Leave the good looks to the arty farty Mac crowd. We want substance, not style.
